Passlock fault — GM Passlock anti-theft triggered after cluster swap
GM diagnostic code. Below: what it means, common causes, symptoms, and the exact bench-programming fix path.
Common causes
- •Cluster replaced without anti-theft clear
- •Used cluster from donor vehicle
- •Passlock learn procedure incomplete
Symptoms you'll see
- •"Theft" warning on dashboard
- •"Wait to Start" message
- •Engine cranks but no fuel
- •Stays this way until counter resets (10+ minutes)
The fix path
GM Instrument Cluster Upgrade + Mileage Program ($200) clears the anti-theft Passlock counter and programs the cluster to your VIN. Existing keys then work normally.
