How a remote job runs

    Connect a supported J2534 interface to the vehicle and to a Windows laptop, with the vehicle on a battery maintainer.

    Contact Auto Module Lab

    Send the VIN, the year, make and model, the module being programmed, and the job you need done.

    Remote session

    Our technician remotely accesses the programming laptop and performs the supported programming procedure.

    Verify

    Complete the required relearns and configuration, then verify the programming result before disconnecting.

What we program remotely

By scenario, with the OEM's own name for the procedure. Coverage is not universal — supported procedures vary by vehicle, module, OEM software and security requirements.

You replaced a module and it needs to be married to the car

The most common remote job there is: the new part is installed, the car does not accept it, and the fix is the OEM programming procedure for that platform.

PCM / ECM replaced

New or remanufactured powertrain module programmed to the VIN with the current factory calibration, followed by the relearns the platform requires (crank/cam variation, idle, fuel trim reset as applicable).

BCM replaced

Body control module configured to the vehicle so lighting, wipers, locks and the immobilizer chain work again. On Stellantis this is the classic PROXI job — the BCM holds the vehicle configuration the other modules align to.

TCM replaced

Transmission control module programmed and initialized, including the adaptive-pressure / shift-adapt resets and relearn drive procedures the OEM software prescribes.

ABS / brake module replaced

ABS or brake control module programmed and configured, with brake-bleed service routines and sensor calibrations initiated from the OE software where the platform provides them.

Power steering control module programmed to the vehicle and the steering angle / torque sensor calibrations completed.

Radio / HMI / cluster carrying the donor VIN

Used or donor infotainment and display modules re-marked to your VIN so they marry to the car instead of the donor. This overlaps our fixed-price remote VIN-swap service.

Airbag / SRS module replaced

Replacement airbag control module programmed and configured to the vehicle where the OEM software supports it over OBD. Clearing crash data from the ORIGINAL module is a bench job — our mail-in crash-data-clear service — not a remote one.

RF hub / keyless module replaced (Stellantis)

RF hub programmed and aligned so remotes and passive entry function; PROXI alignment run afterwards so the configuration propagates.

Nothing was replaced — the software itself is the repair

A large share of drivability, no-start and warning-light complaints close with the OEM’s updated calibration rather than a part.

TSB / recall calibration updates

The manufacturer has revised the module software for a known complaint — shift quality, stalling, false warnings, emissions readiness. We flash the current factory calibration for the VIN.

Failed or interrupted programming recovery

A flash that lost power or was interrupted mid-write can often be recovered over OBD if the module still communicates. If it no longer talks on the bus, that is a bench recovery — see below.

Post-repair scans and code clearing

Full-vehicle scan through the OE software after the work, stored faults cleared, and readiness verified — the report a collision or warranty job needs before delivery.

Security and immobilizer chain

Where the OEM software supports it over OBD with the right authorization — and said plainly when it does not.

Late-model Stellantis vehicles gate programming behind the secure gateway; sessions run with the appropriate authorized access rather than around it.

What a remote session cannot do

Said up front, because finding out mid-job costs you the bay. Where remote stops, the mail-in bench usually continues.

A module that no longer communicates

If it does not talk on the bus, there is nothing for the OE software to reach over OBD. That is bench recovery — mail it in.

Some platforms will not accept a second-hand module over OBD (locked to the donor). On many of those we can clone or virginize the module on the bench first, then the remote session finishes the in-car steps.

Physical ADAS calibrations

We can program an ADAS-related module the OE software supports — but static camera/radar calibrations need targets, measurements and floor space on YOUR side, and dynamic calibrations need the drive. The software half can be remote; the physical half cannot.

Emissions defeats and deletes

Not offered, remotely or on the bench. Factory calibrations only.

A small set of operations require credentials or online accounts we do not represent ourselves as holding. We tell you before the session, not after payment.

Remote programming FAQ

Can Auto Module Lab program every vehicle remotely?
No. Coverage depends on the vehicle, the module, the OEM software, subscriptions, security authorization, the hardware and the procedure required. Contact us before the job when you are unsure — we would rather tell you it is a bench job up front than have the car on your lift while we find out.
What do I need on my end?
The vehicle, a Windows laptop with a reliable internet connection and a free USB port, an approved J2534 interface, and battery support or a programming power supply where the procedure calls for it.
Is remote programming included when I buy a kit?
No. A kit covers the hardware and the setup and onboarding around it. Programming jobs are billed separately, per job. There is no subscription.
Is OEM software included?
No. OEM subscriptions and licenses are separate unless a specific programming service explicitly includes them.
Do I need a battery maintainer?
For module flashing and programming, stable vehicle voltage is critical. We recommend an appropriate programming power supply or battery maintainer for any programming pass.
How is this different from booking a single session?
Mechanically it is the same session, bought right on this page at the published per-platform price. The standing arrangement is about habit and priority: you own the interface, you send jobs as they come up, and we work as your remote programming department instead of a vendor you re-find each time.

Vehicle, module and OEM-software compatibility varies. OEM subscriptions, security credentials and manufacturer fees may be required and are not included unless expressly stated. Confirm compatibility with Auto Module Lab before beginning a programming procedure.
