Will This Fix My Problem?

Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.

Fixes:

  • Replaced the ABS/EBCM and now it will not communicate
  • Used EBCM from another truck — needs VIN programming to work
  • ABS, brake, and traction lights on after a module swap
  • New EBCM installed but the truck does not recognize it

Won't fix:

  • A faulty EBCM that needs board-level repair (see ABS Module Repair)
  • Wheel-speed sensor, tone-ring, or wiring faults (module only)
  • Hydraulic problems requiring a brake bleed (done at install)
  • Post-2020 T1 trucks / different EBCM architecture

Bought a replacement ABS module and the lights are still on?

A new or used GM EBCM is not plug-and-play on its own — it has to be programmed to your VIN and configured to your truck before it will communicate and clear the ABS/brake/traction lights. Ship the module in and we do exactly that on the bench, so it drops in ready. The hydraulic bleed and any on-car relearn are finished when you install it.

Frequently Asked

Still have a question? Text us — replies in minutes.

Why won't my new ABS module just work?
A GM EBCM must be programmed to your VIN and configured to your truck before it communicates on the network. Until that setup is done, the module stays dark and the ABS/brake/traction lights stay on. We do the programming on the bench so it drops in ready.
Is this the same as your ABS module repair?
No. Repair fixes a faulty module's board. This service programs a good new or used module to your truck. If your original is faulty and you want it fixed rather than replaced, choose ABS Module Repair instead — we can help you pick.
Can I use a used EBCM from another truck?
Yes — a matching donor is fine. We write your VIN and configuration to it so it works in your truck. Send us the donor part number first and we confirm it is a match before you ship.
Will I need to bleed the brakes after install?
Possibly. The programming/setup is done on the bench; any hydraulic brake bleed or on-car ABS relearn is finished when you install the module. That part is normal for an ABS module replacement.
Which trucks are covered?
2014-2018 Silverado/Sierra 1500, 2019 1500 LD, 2015-2019 2500/3500, 2015-2020 Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/Escalade, and 2015-2018 Colorado/Canyon. Different-era EBCMs are handled separately — send your VIN.
