Will This Fix My Problem?

Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.

Fixes:

  • Installed a used / junkyard Global A ECM and SPS won't program it to your VIN
  • GM SPS / TIS2Web throws "module already programmed" or a VIN-mismatch error
  • Used module is still married to the donor vehicle and rejects new programming
  • Need a salvage ECM reset to virgin state before a dealer reflash

Won't fix:

  • Programming the module to your VIN — we virginize; you (or your dealer) do the SPS write after
  • Hardware-failed or water-damaged modules (we reset, not repair internal damage)
  • Global B (2019+) modules — those use a different security model, text us to confirm
  • Theft-relink / immobilizer key programming (separate service)

Why a used Global A module needs virginizing

GM Global A modules store the VIN they were last programmed to. SPS2 / TIS2Web checks that VIN and refuses to reprogram a module that is already married to a different vehicle. Virginizing clears that marriage so the unit looks like a brand-new part — the only way to make a used ECM/module accept programming to your VIN without buying a new one from the dealer.

Frequently Asked

Still have a question? Text us — replies in minutes.

What does "virginize" mean?
It resets the module to a virgin, unprogrammed state — clearing the VIN it was last married to and the related security data. After virginizing, GM SPS2 / TIS2Web sees it as a fresh part and will program it to your vehicle.
Do you also program it to my VIN?
No — we virginize only. Once the module is virgin, your dealer or any SPS-subscribed shop programs it to your VIN with TIS2Web. We deliberately stay out of the per-VIN SPS write so you can use your own shop.
Why can't I just install the used module and program it?
Because GM SPS checks the VIN already stored in the module. If it's married to the donor vehicle, SPS refuses with a "module already programmed" / VIN-mismatch error. Virginizing removes that block.
Does this work on Global B (2019+) trucks?
Global B uses a different, tighter security architecture. Text us the year/model/part number before shipping — we'll tell you upfront whether yours is supported. If not, we refund.
How do I know my module is Global A?
Most GM vehicles from roughly 2010-2017 are Global A. Send us the part number from the case label and we'll confirm before any work — year/make/model alone isn't enough.
