Will This Fix My Problem?

Honest answer: here's exactly what this service fixes — and what it doesn't.

Fixes:

  • Confirmed dead or non-communicating engine computer
  • Internal ECM failure after a diagnosis rules out sensors/wiring
  • A used ECM that cranks the engine but never starts (immobilizer)
  • Water or corrosion damage to the original ECM

Won't fix:

  • No-starts caused by sensors, fuel, or wiring — diagnose first
  • Hybrid inverter/battery ECUs — different service, ask first
  • Smart-key/immobilizer box faults — see the Toyota key services
  • Vehicles we cannot confirm the correct part for — send the VIN

The immobilizer is why the eBay ECM never starts

Toyota marries the ECM to the immobilizer, so a used engine computer from another car cranks strong and never fires — exactly the trap owners fall into. Supplying the part ourselves means we source the correct unit for your VIN and prepare it so your car will accept it, then ship it ready to install. Where the platform still needs a brief on-car registration, we tell you before you order rather than after.

Shipping Instructions

These details are also emailed to you the moment your payment clears.

Nothing to ship in — enter your VIN at checkout and we source and prepare the ECM for it. It arrives ready to install. Some Toyota/Lexus platforms need a short immobilizer registration on the car afterward (dealer or capable locksmith); we tell you up front whether yours does. Outbound shipping is selected at checkout.

What to include in your box

  • Nothing inbound — supply-a-part service
  • Your VIN (required — ECM prepared for it)
  • Proof of ownership
  • Your shipping address and phone number

Frequently Asked

Still have a question? Text us — replies in minutes.

Why can't I just buy a used ECM and bolt it in?
Toyota's immobilizer marries the ECM to the car. A used unit from another vehicle cranks but never starts, because your immobilizer rejects an engine computer it was never paired with. Supplying the part ourselves lets us source the right one and prepare it for your VIN so the car accepts it.
Will I need the dealer after install?
Depends on year and platform. Some go in and run; others need a short immobilizer registration on the car that a dealer or capable locksmith performs in minutes. We tell you which category your vehicle is in before you order, not after.
Why is Toyota $449 when your GM/Ford parts are less?
The immobilizer marriage adds real bench work Toyota builds into the process, and correctly-sourced Toyota ECMs cost more to acquire than a GM BCM. The price reflects the harder job — and it is still well under a dealer ECM plus programming plus a tow.
Is my VIN required?
Yes — the ECM is prepared specifically for your vehicle, so checkout needs a VIN. It also lets us verify the exact part before anything ships.
